Straight answers about PromptDC — the AI prompt & writing assistant that improves anything you type into AI, from grammar and emails to coding prompts, right in any text box.
What is PromptDC?
PromptDC is an AI prompt & writing assistant. A floating toolbar appears in text boxes on any website (and a right-click menu and shortcut work too), and one click rewrites your text — fixing grammar, writing emails, sharpening posts, summarizing, or turning a vague coding request into a precise, implementation-ready spec.
Is PromptDC a Grammarly alternative?
For writing, yes. PromptDC fixes grammar, tone, and clarity like Grammarly, but it works inside every text box on the web — including AI chats like ChatGPT and Claude — instead of a separate app. It also enhances the prompts you send to AI and rewrites coding prompts.
Does PromptDC work in any text box and on any website?
Yes. The Chrome extension works everywhere on the web. Its toolbar appears in any text box on any website, and a right-click menu and keyboard shortcut let you enhance selected text anywhere. It also ships tuned defaults for popular sites including Gmail, LinkedIn, X, Google Docs, ChatGPT, Claude, Lovable, Bolt.new, Replit, Cursor, and v0.
What is the difference between Writing mode and Coding mode?
Writing mode is the everyday side — grammar, emails, replies, tone, and social posts in any text box. Coding mode rewrites vague developer prompts into precise, implementation-ready instructions for AI code generation. PromptDC chooses the right mode by site and you can switch manually.
What are profiles?
Profiles are saved enhancement configurations — a name plus rewriting instructions. PromptDC ships with 10 built-ins (Code, Grammar, Email, Social, Image Prompt, Summarize, Reply, Professional, Concise, Explain) and you can create your own and assign them per website.
Does PromptDC still work for coding?
Yes. The original coding prompt rewriter is unchanged and available at /code. Recognized coding sites default to Coding mode until you add custom profiles or per-website rules. Coding mode includes Simple and Structured enhancement, Regular, JSON, XML, and YAML output formats, plus optional system-prompt overrides.
Do I need an API key, and what does it cost?
Pro and Enterprise do not require an API key. Lifetime requires your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or Grok API key and typically costs about $1 to $3 per month in provider usage. You choose the provider and model. Keys stay on the device where you save them, do not sync across clients, transit PromptDC's backend for each request, and are never stored there.
Does it support multiple languages?
Yes. PromptDC can enhance in nine languages including English, Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Korean, Russian, Vietnamese, and Czech, preserving meaning and nuance.
The value of clarity.
Whether you're writing an email or prompting an AI to build software, the output is only as good as the words you type. PromptDC closes the gap between what you mean and what you typed.
One tool, everywhere you type.
No copy-pasting into a separate app. PromptDC enhances your text in place, in any text box, with the right mode for the site you're on.
