What is PromptDC Desktop?
PromptDC Desktop is a menu-bar writing assistant for macOS and Windows. Select text in any app, press the shortcut, and a native overlay rewrites it in place — emails, Slack messages, docs, and coding prompts included.
Is it available for both Windows and Mac?
Yes. There are installers for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) and Windows 10/11 (x64). Same account, same profiles, both platforms.
How does the global shortcut work?
Press ⌘⇧E on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+E on Windows in Mail, Slack, Notion, Cursor, VS Code, Discord, or any other app. PromptDC reads the selected text and opens a floating overlay next to your cursor. Replace pastes the rewrite back into the original field.
Does it follow Light Mode and Dark Mode?
Yes. The overlay and settings window follow your system appearance, or you can lock Light or Dark in preferences.
Can I use my own API keys?
Lifetime plans can bring their own keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, DeepSeek, or a local Ollama instance. Keys stay on the machine and are sent only with each request.
Where does it work that the Chrome extension cannot?
PromptDC Desktop works with selected text in every app, including Safari, Edge, Chrome and other browsers, plus Mail, Slack, Notion, Notes, IDEs and terminals. The Chrome extension adds in-place rewriting for editable web fields and needs no Accessibility permission.
