Step 1
Install the macOS or Windows desktop app for every app, browser, IDE, and terminal.
Updated July 2026
PromptDC's flagship desktop app works everywhere on macOS and Windows. Select text in any app, every browser, IDE, or terminal, press Cmd+Shift+E or Ctrl+Shift+E, review the editable result, then Replace or Copy. It is the first desktop app to enhance prompts inside Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Grok, Agy, and OpenCode terminals; Chrome and IDE extensions are optional additions.
The desktop app alone covers every textarea, desktop app, coding app, IDE chat panel, and terminal on macOS and Windows.
PromptDC is profile-driven: everyday writing profiles handle grammar, email, replies, and posts, while the Code profile creates implementation-ready developer prompts.
PromptPerfect is a general prompt optimizer used as a standalone tool.
The optional Chrome extension adds in-place web rewriting and per-website defaults without Accessibility permission.
Optional IDE extensions add a target-agent picker and Simple or Structured output.
PromptDC is a profile-driven desktop app for macOS and Windows that works everywhere. Select text in any app, every browser, IDE, or terminal, press Cmd+Shift+E or Ctrl+Shift+E, review the editable rewrite, then Replace or Copy. One install covers native apps, browser text fields, editor AI chat panels, and terminal CLIs.
Unlike tools confined to a browser tab, PromptDC works across Mail, Slack, Notion, Word, Outlook, Teams, AI desktop apps, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, and terminals on macOS and Windows. The Chrome extension is an addition for in-place web rewriting, and the IDE extensions are optional because the desktop app already covers IDE chat panels and terminals.
PromptDC is profile-driven: choose a default profile for each desktop application, such as Code for Cursor and terminals or Email for Mail. The optional Chrome extension adds per-website defaults and in-place rewriting without Accessibility permission, while optional IDE extensions add a target-agent picker and Simple or Structured output in supported editor AI chat panels.
PromptPerfect is a versatile tool for general prompt optimization across many models. PromptDC covers the same prompt-quality goal but adds an on-demand writing assistant and is not confined to a browser tab.
PromptPerfect optimizes prompts in its own interface; PromptDC's desktop app rewrites selected text in any app, every browser, IDE, and terminal on macOS and Windows.

PromptDC enhanced
Hi [Name], following up on the document I shared. Could you take a look when you get a moment? I'd appreciate your feedback by Thursday if that works. Thanks so much.
You want one desktop install for every app, browser, IDE chat panel, and terminal.
You enhance prompts inside Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Grok, Agy, or OpenCode.
You need writing profiles, the Code profile, per-app defaults, and Actions.
You'd rather rewrite in place than copy-paste into a separate optimizer.
PromptPerfect shutdown date: Sept 1, 2026
PromptPerfect was built by Jina AI, which was acquired by Elastic. The standalone product is being retired: new signups have closed and the service is scheduled to end on September 1, 2026. If you use it to optimize prompts, you'll need a replacement before then. This comparison is written to help you choose one. For a step-by-step move, see the dedicated PromptPerfect alternative page.
Step 1
Install the macOS or Windows desktop app for every app, browser, IDE, and terminal.
Step 2
Optionally add Chrome for in-place web rewriting or an IDE extension for editor-specific prompt controls.
Step 3
Paste a prompt you used to optimize in PromptPerfect and enhance it before sending.
Step 4
Set a profile default per app or site, or type a one-off custom instruction with Action.

Enhance any text you select on the desktop, on the web, in your editor or terminals.
