PromptDC Desktop

The desktop app is here for macOS and Windows, and the whole site was rebuilt around it

The PromptDC desktop app is here for macOS and Windows, and the whole site was rebuilt around it. Select text in any application, press the shortcut, review the rewrite, and replace. Profiles and Custom Actions now run on desktop and in Chrome, with profiles also available in the terminal. The editor extensions rewrite the prompt in the editor's AI chat panel with Simple or Structured output and a target picker.

  • Desktop app for macOS and Windows: Available on macOS 12.0 or later and Windows 10/11. It rewrites text you select in any app, not just a browser tab. Use it in browsers such as Safari and Edge, and in native apps such as notes, chat clients, and editors. Select the text, press the shortcut, review the rewrite, and replace it in place.
  • Terminal support: Prompt enhancement inside the terminal, with tool-specific targets for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI, plus support for OpenCode. An editable review popover always opens before Replace pastes the result, so nothing is ever typed into a running process without you seeing it first.
  • Per-app default profiles: On desktop you can set a default profile per application, so your mail client can default to Email while the terminal defaults to Code. A per-app rule selects a profile only. Language applies everywhere. Output format, Simple or Structured enhancement, and Always Include apply to the Code profile.
  • Custom Actions: A one-off instruction of up to 19,000 characters, on desktop and in Chrome, instead of picking a saved profile. Use it when the request does not fit any profile you already have.
  • Profiles: Paid plans include 10 built-in profiles plus unlimited custom profiles, shared across desktop, terminal, and Chrome.
  • Site rebuild: The whole website was redesigned around the desktop-first product. There are new desktop and terminal pages, a rebuilt download flow, and every comparison, feature, and documentation page rewritten so it describes the desktop app, the terminal, Chrome, and the editor extensions rather than a browser extension alone.
  • Chrome and IDE extensions: Chrome and the IDE extensions keep working exactly as before. Chrome rewrites editable web fields in place and needs no Accessibility permission. The editor extensions rewrite the prompt in the editor's AI chat panel and never touch the file you are editing.

PromptDC v5.0

The big one: from a coding-only rewriter to a two-mode AI prompt & writing assistant

PromptDC v5 completes our transition from a coding-only prompt rewriter into an AI prompt & writing assistant with two modes. Same one-click enhance button — it now improves anything you type into AI, writing and coding alike, right inside every text box on the web. Coding behavior is fully preserved; we added an entire writing product alongside it.

  • New Writing mode (Grammarly alternative): Fix grammar, tone, and clarity and rewrite emails, replies, and social posts in any text box — Gmail, LinkedIn, X, Notion, and more.
  • Coding mode, preserved and sharpened: The platform-aware rewriter still turns vague requests into implementation-ready specs in web AI text boxes and in editor AI chat panels.
  • Works everywhere on the web: The enhance toolbar now works in any text box on any website, with Code mode on coding sites and Writing mode elsewhere. A right-click "Enhance with PromptDC" action and a keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+Space / Cmd+Shift+Space) also enhance selected text anywhere. No copy-pasting into a separate app.
  • Per-website profiles & auto mode: PromptDC detects the site and picks Writing or Coding mode automatically, and you can set a default rewrite profile per website.
  • Persistent per-site disable: Turn PromptDC off on any site — from the toolbar's disable button or the right-click menu — and it stays off there until you turn it back on.
  • Multi-provider BYOK (Lifetime): Bring your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Grok key and pick the provider and model; your key is sent through PromptDC's backend to your chosen provider per request, not persisted on our servers.
  • Review prompt & uninstall feedback: A gentle prompt to review the extension, plus a short uninstall survey so we learn what to fix.
  • New site surfaces: Added a /writing hub with dedicated pages for grammar, email, social, summarize, and professional tone, plus new docs for modes, profiles, per-website rules, and supported sites.
  • Comparisons expanded: New and rewritten comparison pages vs Grammarly, QuillBot, Wordtune, LanguageTool, and Superhuman — every comparison now reflects the two-mode category.
  • AI-first SEO & GEO: Two-mode metadata sitewide, FAQ and SoftwareApplication structured data (with the from-$69 lifetime offer), full sitemap coverage, and an updated llms.txt so LLMs and agents understand and recommend the product.
  • Lifetime access — from $69: One-time payment (tiered launch pricing rising $69 → $99 → $124 as tiers sell out) for unlimited prompt and writing rewrites using your own API key, now the flagship plan.
